Birth support Budapest, giving birth in Hungary, birth Doula

I'm Susie Suhai-Kóra— mother of three, birth and bereavement doula, and founder of Amama Doula Practice.

Before dedicating my work to supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, I spent more than a decade in aviation, working in roles ranging from flight attendant to air traffic operations. Those years taught me the value of clear communication, calm decision-making, and the importance of feeling supported during life's most significant journeys.

Today, I bring those same skills into my work with families.

As a doula, I see myself as a bridge between my clients and the medical professionals caring for them. I help families understand their options, navigate the maternity system with confidence, and feel informed and supported throughout the process.

I am also a mother who has experienced pregnancy and birth abroad myself. Living as an expat and giving birth in Qatar within a Cuban hospital system taught me firsthand what it feels like to navigate an unfamiliar healthcare environment far from home.

Whether I am supporting a family preparing for birth, walking alongside parents after loss, or helping someone make sense of a complex maternity system, my goal is always the same:

To provide steady presence, compassionate support, and a space where you feel heard, respected, and never alone.

I believe that birth matters.
I believe that loss matters.
And I believe that every family deserves to be supported with dignity, kindness, and care.

My approach

Birth is not only a medical event. It is a life transition.

I believe that being truly supported can change how a woman experiences pregnancy, birth and the early days of motherhood. That being heard matters. That understanding your options matters. That feeling safe matters.

As someone who has given birth abroad myself, I know how overwhelming it can feel to navigate an unfamiliar system, language and culture. That is why I care deeply about clear communication, cultural sensitivity and helping families feel at home, wherever they are giving birth.

Partners deserve support too. Birth is often their first time navigating this experience as well, and I love helping them feel confident in their role.

The strength, wisdom and intuition are already within you. I simply bring knowledge, perspective and a steady presence, so you can focus on meeting your baby.Write your text here...

A note from Susie:

“As a mother of three who has navigated pregnancy and birth abroad myself, I understand how overwhelming it can feel to prepare for birth far from home.

My hope is that every family who visits this space leaves feeling a little more informed, a little more confident, and a little less alone.”
