Frequently asked questions

Is a doula a medical professional?

We doulas do not perform medical procedures or replace doctors or midwives. We provide emotional, physical and informational support alongside your medical team.

Why choose a doula?

Most women don’t start this journey knowing what kind of support they might need; You may have questions, uncertainty, or a quiet feeling that you don’t want to be left alone in it…this is where support comes in.

Can my partner still play an active role?

Absolutely. We support both you and your partner. Many partners feel more confident when they are not the sole support person.

Can you support me if me or my partner doesn’t speak Hungarian?

Yes. I provide English and Italian support and, when needed, assistance in communication within the hospital system. I understand that cultural expectations around birth differ - I myself gave birth to my youngest in Qatar at a Cuban hospital - and I approach each family with sensitivity and respect.

Do you attend Birthes in all hospitals in Budapest?

Yes, I accompany families in public and private hospitals, depending on hospital policies.

How much does it cost?

My pricing varies depending on the chosen services. I offer tailored pregnancy and birth support packages for international families, payments can be arranged in monthly arrangements. I am also partnered with multiple Hungarian health funds (Egészségpénztár).

What is a Doula Collective?

We are a team of trained birth professionals working together under one shared professional standard and brand. Unlike independent practitioners, we operate as a collaborative practice. Our clients benefit from both personal care and collective expertise. We intentionally limit the number of families we support each month to ensure presence and availability.

A note from Susie:

“As a mother of three who has navigated pregnancy and birth abroad myself, I understand how overwhelming it can feel to prepare for birth far from home.

My hope is that every family who visits this space leaves feeling a little more informed, a little more confident, and a little less alone.”
